This simple Grilled Green Bean recipe takes just a few minutes to prep and less than 10 minutes to cook – making for a quick and easy side dish.
When I was working all the time, we had a simple mealtime formula. Most of our dinners consisted of a protein and veggies. Sometimes we will include a carb, rice being the most common. It is a quick, healthy dinner when you do not have a lot of time. Using different spice blends helps keep it interested.
Grilled chicken and green beans are a standard weeknight meal in our house. The grill helps add a nice char and smoky flavor with no extra dishes or mess.
How to Make Grilled Green Beans
Lightly coat the green beans in olive oil and season simply with salt, pepper, and garlic. Smoked paprika and chili powder work great as well.
With the grill on high, place the green beans on a piece of foil or veggie tray and cook unit desired softness. Flip often to char all sides.
Cooking time will vary depending on your taste – I like my green beans slightly soften but still have a little crunch. You may prefer a crispier crunch. {My parents want them to be mussy😐} A very hot grill will help char the outside quickly without making them too soft. If you prefer softer, turn the heat down to medium-high to prevent them from burning before you reach the desired doneness.
Directions
Step 1: Turn your grill burners onto the highest setting. If using a veggie grill tray, preheat the tray before adding the vegetables to the grill.
Step 2: Place 16oz of green beans on a piece of foil or bowl. Add ½ tablespoon of olive oil, ⅛ teaspoon garlic, and black pepper and a pinch or two of salt to taste. Toss to coat veggies evenly.
Step 3: Place veggies on the grill directly over the burner and spread out into a single layer. Rotate the vegetables after 2-3 minutes to char all sides. Remove when you reach the desired crispness. Less than 10 minutes.
Serve with meat or more veggies for a full meal. For a quick starter or appetizer, serve with a ranch dipping sauce.
Different Cooking Options:
Air Fryer - Prep the vegetables as above and place them in the air fryer for 4-8 minutes at 450 degrees. Try to prevent overcrowding the basket to allow for even cooking. Shake the basket halfway through to sear all sides.
Oven - Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place in a single layer and cook for 10 minutes or until done.
Stovetop - Heat a large pan over high heat. Add the veggies to the pan and stir often to sear all sides, about 10 minutes. Remove from pan and serve.
