Dairy-Free Jalapeno Poppers

  • Author: Sloan
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

This easy dish makes a great snack at a BBQ, tailgate, or holiday party. Made with dairy-free cream cheese and crispy bacon, these poppers are Whole30, Paleo, and Keto.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 large Jalapenos
  • 1 clove Garlic - finely minced
  • 2 Green Onions - chopped
  • 1/2 cup Dairy-Free Cream Cheese
  • 8 slices of Bacon - cut in half*

Instructions

  1. Slice the jalapenos in half and remove the seeds and ribs. Place on a piece of foil, parchment paper, or a silicone mat.
  2. Chop the garlic and green onions and place in a bowl with the cream cheese. Stir to combine. Add salt and pepper as needed.
  3. Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the jalapeno slices to fully cover the opening.
  4. Wrap the jalapeno with a slice of bacon, tucking the ends under the pepper.
  5. Cook until the bacon is crispy and the jalapeno is soft.

Oven - Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place the jalapeno poppers in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.

Air Fryer - Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees for 2-3 minutes. Place the jalapeno poppers in the basket, in a single layer, and cook for 15-20 minutes.

Grill - Preheat the grill to high heat. Place the poppers on a grill mat or piece of foil directly over the flame, and cook with the lid closed for 30 minutes or until the bacon is crispy. Check on the poppers regularly to ensure they are not burning.

Notes

Precooking the bacon - To reduce cooking time and render some of the fat from the poppers, you can precook the bacon. Place strips of bacon on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or foil. Cook the bacon for 5 minutes. Remove and place on a paper towel to drain and cool. Once cool enough to touch, you can wrap the jalapeno poppers.
